DHC-8-311

The DHC-8-311 is a regional turboprop airliner, part of the Dash 8 Series 300 family. It is recognized for its short take-off and landing (STOL) capability, making it well-suited for challenging regional routes. The aircraft is an extended version of the original Dash 8, providing higher passenger capacity and operational efficiency for medium-haul flights. Its design emphasizes reliability and performance in various weather conditions.

Bombardier, the manufacturer associated with the DHC-8-311, established itself as a major force in global aviation through strategic acquisitions. The Dash 8 lineage traces back to de Havilland Canada (DHC), which developed the aircraft series. Bombardier acquired DHC in 1992, subsequently taking over the production of the Dash 8 turboprops and rebranding them under the company name. This incorporation allowed Bombardier to expand its presence in the commercial aircraft market. Bombardier later divested its turboprop program to Viking Air (now De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited), but its tenure in manufacturing the Dash 8 family cemented the aircraft’s widespread global use.
