DHC-8-201

The DHC-8-201 is a variant of the Dash 8 Series 200, a turboprop regional airliner produced by De Havilland. This aircraft maintained the same 37–39 passenger capacity as the original Series 100 but featured an upgrade to more powerful 2,150 shp Pratt & Whitney Canada PW123C engines. The DHC-8-201 variant was introduced in 1995 to enhance performance, particularly at high altitude and in hot weather.

De Havilland Canada was established in 1928, originally manufacturing aircraft under license before designing its own iconic bush planes. Following the success of aircraft like the DHC-6 Twin Otter and the DHC-7 Dash 7, the company developed the DHC-8 Dash 8 series, which first flew in 1983. The manufacturing history of the Dash 8 saw the program pass through ownership by Boeing and Bombardier, before being acquired by Longview Aviation Capital and subsequently relaunched as De Havilland Aircraft of Canada.
