DHC-2 MK 1

The DHC-2 Beaver Mk I, manufactured by DE Havilland Canada, is celebrated as the paramount bush and backcountry aircraft. Designed with direct input from Canadian bush pilots, the Beaver was engineered to be rugged and versatile, making its first flight on August 16, 1947, and entering service in 1948.

DE Havilland Canada produced 1,657 units between 1947 and the 1960s, establishing the Beaver as a foundational utility aircraft. It was widely used by regional air carriers, the United States Army, and the Civil Air Patrol for cargo and passenger transport and other duties. This high-wing, short takeoff and landing (STOL) monoplane is known for its ability to operate on floats, wheels, or skis. Its enduring design legacy continues today through various aftermarket modifications, including modern turboprop and electric conversions.
