DHC-1 MK 22A

The DHC-1 Chipmunk Mk 22A is a civil conversion of the DHC-1 Chipmunk, a tandem, two-seat, single-engined primary trainer aircraft. The Mk 22A variant is specifically known for having increased fuel tankage compared to the standard Mk 22, which itself was a conversion of the RAF’s T.Mk 10 for civilian use. This aircraft has proven popular with private owners for its flying characteristics.

Its manufacturer, DE Havilland (de Havilland Canada), embarked on the Chipmunk project as its first major postwar aviation initiative. The DHC-1 Chipmunk first flew on May 22, 1946, designed to replace the legendary DH.82 Tiger Moth biplane as a primary trainer. Production ran from 1947 to 1956, resulting in 1,284 units built across Canadian, British, and Portuguese facilities. The Chipmunk served extensively with air forces globally, including the Royal Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Force, establishing a lasting legacy in military and civilian aviation.

Various access platforms and stands, such as Reach Deck Platforms, Modular Stepover Platforms, and Super Maintenance Platforms, are employed to facilitate methodical maintenance across this aircraft. These solutions address access needs for the Nose Section (including the windshield and cockpit), the Landing Gear (NLG and MLG), and the Wing & Engine Pylon sections. They also provide comprehensive access for the Forward Fuselage, Middle Fuselage, AFT Fuselage, and Tail Section (Empennage) for detailed servicing.
