DH-89A

The DH-89A Dragon Rapide is a classic twin-engine biplane designed for short-haul passenger and light transport duties. Developed by DE Havilland during the early 1930s, the aircraft performed its maiden flight on April 17, 1934. The DH-89A designation signifies models fitted with improved trailing edge flaps, an update commonly retrofitted to earlier aircraft. Production ran from 1934 to 1946, with over 700 units manufactured.

DE Havilland was a foundational British aviation manufacturer. They developed the Dragon Rapide as a smaller, twin-engined version of the four-engined DH.86. Upon the outbreak of the Second World War, many civilian Rapides were quickly pressed into service with the Royal Air Force, where they were known as the Dominie, demonstrating their versatility and reliability.
