DH-85

The DH-85 Leopard Moth is a three-seat, high-wing cabin monoplane, designed and built by the de Havilland Aircraft Company in 1933. This aircraft was developed as a refinement of earlier Moth series aircraft, intended for private pilots and air racing. It was valued for its performance and comfort as a touring aircraft.

DE Havilland, the manufacturer, has a foundational history in British aviation. Founded by Geoffrey de Havilland in 1920, the company first focused on producing light aircraft, particularly the popular Moth series, which became essential for civil aviation and flying training worldwide. Production of the DH-85 Leopard Moth began in 1933, following its first flight on May 27, 1933. A total of 133 units were manufactured between 1933 and 1936, initially at Stag Lane Aerodrome and later at the company’s Hatfield factory.

A variety of access solutions are utilized to support maintenance operations on this aircraft. Platforms and stands support detailed access across the aircraft for methodical maintenance, including the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Bulkhead), Forward Fuselage (Cabin Access), Landing Gear (Nose Landing Gear and Main Landing Gear), Middle Fuselage, Wing, and Tail Section (Vertical and Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder).
