The DH-83 Fox Moth is a light passenger biplane introduced in 1932 by the de Havilland Aircraft Company. Designed for low-cost commercial use, the aircraft achieved the distinction of being the first non-subsidized aircraft to earn a profit in commercial aviation. Its design incorporated many components shared with the DH. 82 Tiger Moth, including the engine, tailplane, and wings, which could be folded for convenient storage. Production totaled 153 units, with manufacturing taking place in the UK, Australia, and Canada (post-WWII versions designated DH. 83C).
The de Havilland Aircraft Company, founded by Geoffrey de Havilland, has a long and foundational history in aviation, dating back to designs created during WWI. The company became renowned for its highly successful series of light touring and training aircraft throughout the 1930s, beginning with the DH. 60 Moth. De Havilland was an influential manufacturer worldwide, establishing a strong legacy in aerospace design and production.
A full suite of height access solutions supports thorough maintenance for the DH-83. Mobile platforms and stepover systems provide essential access to critical areas. These tools facilitate detailed inspection and service for the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Avionics), the Forward Fuselage (Cabin Access, Main Entry Door), and the Landing Gear (Nose Landing Gear and Main Landing Gear). For the Wing and Engine area, including the propeller and engine body, platforms ensure proper elevation for servicing. Furthermore, platforms aid comprehensive access across the AFT Fuselage and Tail Section (Vertical and Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder).
