DH-60G

The DH-60G is a variant of the de Havilland DH.60 Moth, a foundational two-seat touring and training biplane. First flying in 1925, the original DH.60 Moth quickly became the world’s first truly successful light aeroplane for private owners and military training alike. The “G” designation refers to the Gipsy Moth, the variant that replaced the earlier Cirrus engines with the reliable de Havilland Gipsy I engine.

The de Havilland Aircraft Company Limited was founded in 1920 by Geoffrey de Havilland. The company achieved initial success with the DH.60 Moth series, which was instrumental in popularizing private aviation and flying clubs globally. By the late 1920s, production was significant, with licenses granted for manufacturing in several countries. The company eventually relocated its main factory to Hatfield, Hertfordshire, and continued its history of innovation, later producing iconic designs like the Mosquito and the Comet jetliner before being incorporated into Hawker Siddeley in 1963.

For maintenance of an aircraft like the DH-60G, various access solutions are necessary. Elevated platforms, modular stepover units, and sturdy trestle scaffolding provide safe access for work on the Wing & Engine Pylon section—especially when addressing the Engine Body, Engine Flap, and fuel systems. Smaller platforms and ladders are effective for detailed work on the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit) and the Tail Section (Vertical and Horizontal Stabilizers, Rudder). Wheeled stands offer mobility for General Access and routine inspections around the fuselage and Landing Gear components.
