DA20-A1

The Diamond DA20-A1, known as the Katana, is an Austrian-designed, two-seat light aircraft foundational to general aviation training and personal use. This aircraft, powered by a Rotax 912-powered A1 engine, was the first Diamond model manufactured in Canada, beginning in 1994, marking its introduction to the North American market.

Diamond Aircraft Industries began in 1981 in Austria as Hoffmann Flugzeugbau, founded by Wolf Hoffmann. The company evolved, later becoming Dimona Aircraft before establishing itself as Diamond Aircraft in 1996. Its history is marked by a focus on composite materials and innovative general aviation designs, tracing back to the Hoffmann H36 Dimona motor glider, which first flew in 1980. The company has produced over 1,000 DA-20 aircraft since 1994 and has expanded its product line to include single- and twin-engine aircraft for various roles.

Maintenance platforms and access solutions are indispensable for the DA20-A1. Tools such as specialized platforms (Reach Deck, Modular Stepover, Super Maintenance) and mobile scaffolding (Super Trestle Scaffold) provide necessary height and stability for thorough access to the Wing & Engine Pylon section for tasks like engine maintenance, inspection of the propeller, and checking fuel pumps. Smaller solutions like Platform Ladders and Cantilever Platforms are ideal for detailed work on the Nose Section, including the windshield, cockpit, and nose avionics, as well as the Tail Section for stabilizer and rudder checks. For the Landing Gear, tripod jacks and service units support maintenance on the Nose Landing Gear and Main Landing Gear components. General access around the fuselage is made safer and more efficient using various portable stands and bridging solutions.
