The D17-R(M) is a variant of the Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing, a classic aircraft known for its distinctive negative stagger wing arrangement. Beechcraft manufactured the Model 17 from 1933 to 1949, building 785 units in total. Conceived by Walter Beech and Ted Wells, the Model 17 was designed as a luxurious, high-performance biplane for the civilian market, excelling in transport and air racing.
During World War II, Allied forces employed the Model 17 in military roles, often designated as the UC-43. After the war, production continued briefly for civilian use.
A range of platforms and access solutions are available for servicing this aircraft. These products support detailed maintenance across all key airframe sections.
For the Nose Section, access is necessary for the radome, avionics, and windshield. The Forward Fuselage requires servicing for the main entry door, cargo/baggage areas, and lighting systems. Access systems facilitate inspections of both the nose and main landing gear.
Mid-fuselage maintenance addresses the wing box area, fuel tanks, and cabin interior. For the Wing and Engine Pylon sections, access is required for anti-ice systems, the engine itself (including inlet, exhaust, and fan components), and hydraulics. AFT Fuselage and Tail Section access is critical for the rear bulkheads, cargo, doors, and the empennage, including the vertical and horizontal stabilizers and rudder.
