The CC18-180 Top Cub is an American light aircraft produced by CUB Crafters, introduced in 2004. This aircraft is supplied complete and ready-to-fly, receiving its US FAA type certification in December 2004. The design is a modern, type-certified evolution of the revered 1949 Piper PA-18 Super Cub.
CUB Crafters began its history in 1980 when Jim Richmond founded the company to repair and restore original Piper Cubs. This foundational focus on the classic airframe led to the company introducing its first “new” airplane, a Piper/CubCrafters PA18, in 1999. The expertise gained through restoration and modernization directly paved the way for the development of the CC18-180, a continuation of the classic “Cub” lineage tailored for today’s market.
