CA-18 MK 21

The CA-18 Mk 21 Mustang is a license-built variant of the North American P-51 Mustang, manufactured by Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) during the final stages of World War II. Although it arrived too late for combat, the CA-18 served with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), including participation in the Occupation of Japan. The CA-18 Mk 21 saw its first flight on April 29, 1945, and was introduced on June 4, 1945. It was eventually retired from the Citizen Air Force in 1959.

Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation, which produced 200 units of the CA-17/CA-18/CA-21 series, was founded in 1942, succeeding Rearwin Aircraft & Engines. Following the war, the company resumed production of the Commonwealth Skyranger. However, the company faced challenges and went bankrupt in March 1947, ceasing operations.

A range of platforms and access solutions are available for maintenance on the CA-18 MK 21. These solutions are key to performing thorough checks across various aircraft sections. For example, the Reach Deck Platform and Modular Stepover Platforms can provide access for maintenance tasks in areas like the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit) and the Wing & Engine Pylon (Engine Body, Undercowl). Sturdy maintenance stands, like the Super Service Stand and Super Maintenance Platform, are indispensable for servicing the Landing Gear (NLG and MLG) and the Middle Fuselage/Wing Box Area (Oil Maintenance, Fuel Tanks). Specialized access equipment, such as the Branach Fibreglass Platform, aids in maintenance of electrical and avionics systems in the AFT Fuselage and Tail Section. The use of an Aviation Chock and Cone Trolley ensures aircraft stability during maintenance procedures.
