The Commonwealth Aircraft CA-12 Boomerang was an indigenous Australian fighter aircraft developed by Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) during World War II. CAC was founded in 1936 to establish an independent aircraft industry in Australia, driven by the threat of war. The CA-12, which first flew on May 29, 1942, was quickly conceived and built to fill the Royal Australian Air Force’s urgent need for a fighter when foreign supplies were cut off.
The CA-12 was the initial production variant (later known as the Boomerang Mk I). CAC built 105 CA-12 models out of a total production run of 250 Boomerangs between 1942 and 1945. It featured four 7.7 mm Browning machine guns and two 20 mm Hispano cannon in the wings. While retired from frontline service in 1946, some units served as target tugs into the early 1950s.
Various platforms and access solutions are utilized for thorough maintenance across this aircraft. These products support essential access to sections like the nose (including the windshield and cockpit and bulkhead), the wing and engine pylon (for maintenance of the engine, fan, and hydraulics), the landing gear, and the tail section (empennage). Modular and cantilever platforms, alongside maintenance stands and platform ladders, ensure reliable access for inspections and repair across all major areas of the aircraft.
