C295 (CN-295)

The C295 (CN-295) is a medium tactical transport aircraft, a versatile and efficient multi-role airlifter designed for military, government, and NGO operations worldwide. It is known for its ability to perform short take-offs and landings (STOL) and operate from unprepared airstrips.

The aircraft was initially developed by the Spanish aerospace company CASA, which is now part of the European multinational Airbus Defence and Space division. The C295 program officially launched in 1996 as a derivative of the CASA/IPTN CN-235 transport aircraft. The prototype achieved its maiden flight in November 1997, and production began shortly thereafter. The C295 is currently manufactured by Airbus, a European aerospace corporation founded in 1970 as a consortium to compete in the airliner market. Airbus continues to expand the C295’s capabilities, with variants including maritime surveillance, anti-submarine warfare (MPA/ASW), and aerial refuelling.

A range of platforms and access solutions supports maintenance around the C295. The Reach Deck Platform and Modular Stepover Platforms are invaluable for servicing the Wing & Engine Pylon section, providing access to components like the engine inlet, turbine, and hydraulics. For accessing elevated areas such as the Vertical Stabiliser and Rudder in the Tail Section, or the AFT Fuselage components like the APU Compartments, specialized equipment such as the Super Trestle Scaffold, Ultraraise, and Super Service Stand ensures safe and efficient work. Smaller equipment, including the Cantilever Platform and Platform Ladder Warthog, is suitable for intricate work on the Nose Section (Radome, Antenna) and Forward Fuselage for systems like cabin access and ECS components. The Aviation Chock and Cone Trolley and various stands help secure the aircraft and facilitate procedures across general access areas and around the Landing Gear.
