C17-B

The C17-B is a variant of the Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing, an iconic luxury biplane renowned for its unusual negative stagger wing configuration. This aircraft, powered by a 285 hp Jacobs L-5 engine, was celebrated for its high performance and executive-level comfort, featuring a cabin trimmed in materials like leather and mohair. The Staggerwing line was custom-built by hand, eventually selling over 424 units before and during World War II, where some C17 variants even flew coastal patrol duties.

The aircraft’s manufacturer, Beechcraft, was founded in 1932 in Wichita, Kansas, by Walter H. Beech after he left Curtiss-Wright. Beech Aircraft Corporation quickly became a foundational force in American aviation, known for producing sturdy and innovative designs for both business transport and military use.

Maintaining an aircraft of this vintage and design requires specialized access equipment for detailed, methodical upkeep. Access solutions, including Reach Deck Platforms, Super Service Stands, and Bridge Decks, are available to facilitate maintenance across the aircraft. These platforms provide first-class accessibility to critical areas such as the Nose Section (for wind-shield and cockpit access), the Forward Fuselage (for cabin access), and the Wing Box Area. Furthermore, equipment like Cantilever Platforms and Aviation Chock and Cone Trolleys assist in providing the necessary support for landing gear maintenance (NLG and MLG), and the upkeep of the Tail Section (Empennage) components like the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilizers.
