The C-40 Clipper is a foundational military transport aircraft developed by Boeing, a company with a long history of engineering and producing high-performance aircraft since its founding in 1916. The C-40 is a military derivative of the commercial Boeing 737 Next Generation, combining the 737-700 fuselage with the strengthened wings and landing gear of the heavier 737-800 model. This design allows for reliable global transport of cargo and passengers for the United States Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
The C-40 program began with the Navy’s need for a “combi” aircraft, leading to the C-40A variant. Its first flight was in April 2000, and it entered service in April 2001. Production continued until 2023, with approximately 30 aircraft built across the C-40A, C-40B, and C-40C variants.
The maintenance and servicing of the C-40 Clipper requires a variety of access solutions.
