C-165

The C-165 Airmaster is a classic light aircraft that was paramount to the survival of the Cessna Aircraft Company. Developed by Wallace Cessna, the Airmaster series, beginning with the C-34 in 1934, helped the company navigate the Great Depression when many competitors faced liquidation. The C-165 represents a later and refined model in this lineage of single-engine, four-seat cantilever high-wing aircraft.

Cessna Aircraft Company, founded by Clyde Cessna in 1927, has a foundational history in aviation. The Airmaster’s success, built upon innovative features like a cantilever wing, set the stage for Cessna’s later dominance in the general aviation market.
