C-121C

The C-121C is a military transport variant of the famed Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation. Designed with a distinct triple tail and a graceful, dolphin-shaped fuselage, the Constellation series became an icon of piston-engine air travel and military logistics. The C-121C specifically served the Military Air Transport Service (MATS) for cargo and troop movement.

Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer, traces its roots to the early 20th century, with Lockheed Corporation pioneering innovative aircraft designs, particularly during the mid-century golden age of aviation. The Constellation series was foundational to the company’s reputation, beginning service in the late 1940s and operating widely through the 1960s.

Various platforms and access solutions are utilized for service across the C-121C. The Reach Deck Platform and Modular Stepover Platforms provide access to crucial areas like the Wing & Engine Pylon section for engine maintenance (Inlet/Exhaust, Engine Body, Fan, Compressor, Turbine, Fuel Tanks/Pumps) and the Landing Gear (NLG + MLG). For work on the Tail Section (Empennage), particularly the Vertical Stabiliser and Horizontal Stabiliser, specialized Super Trestle Scaffold and Cantilever Platforms are indispensable. Maintenance of the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit, Nose Avionics) and AFT Fuselage (APU Compartments, Rear Avionics) is supported by these adaptable access tools.
