The BO105 LSA-3 is a variant of the foundational Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) Bo 105 light utility helicopter. MBB began Bo 105 production after the 1968 merger of Messerschmitt AG, Bölkow GmbH, and Hamburger Flugzeugbau (HFB). The Bo 105 made its first flight in 1967 and entered service in 1970, pioneering the use of a hingeless main rotor system. This advanced design provided exceptional agility and control responsiveness, making it a globally popular choice for medical evacuation, offshore operations, and military missions. Total production reached 1,640 units before manufacturing concluded in 2001.
Maintenance for the BO105 LSA-3 requires thorough access to all sections. Access solutions such as the Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, Ultraraise, Super Service Stand, Easyraise, Bridge Deck, Cantilever Platform, Super Maintenance Platform, A Frame Aviation Platform, and Platform Ladder Warthog provide access for maintenance of the Nose Section (Radome, Antenna, Windshield & Cockpit), Forward Fuselage (MED, Cargo/Baggage, Lighting Systems, Cabin Access, Forward Wheel Well), Landing Gear (Nose Landing Gear and Main Landing Gear), Middle Fuselage (Oil Maintenance, Cabin Interior), Wing & Engine Pylon (Pylon, Engine components, Hydraulics, Fuel Tanks/Pumps, Undercowl), AFT Fuselage (AFT Bulkhead, AFT Cargo, Rear Avionics, APU Compartments), and Tail Section (Stabilizers, Rudder). An Aviation Chock and Cone Trolley and Super Trestle Scaffold are also available to support general access and security around the aircraft.
