BN2B-26

The BN2B-26 is a specific variant of the Britten-Norman Islander, a foundational twin-engine light aircraft recognized globally for its reliability as a utility and commuter transport. The Islander first flew in 1965 and achieved certification in 1967, featuring a cabin that can accommodate up to eight passengers in a commuter configuration.

The manufacturing history traces back to Britten-Norman Ltd. In 1978, Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. of Switzerland acquired all assets of Britten-Norman, including the facilities on the Isle of Wight, and continued production of models including the BN-2B-26. The company was renamed back to Britten-Norman in 1998, later becoming B-N Group in 2000. Production of the BN-2B-26 remains active, underscoring the aircraft’s enduring design.

Various platforms and access solutions are utilized for maintenance around this aircraft. These elevated workstands and staging systems provide ideal access for detailed maintenance on sections like the Nose Avionics and Windshield & Cockpit. Modular Stepover Platforms and Bridge Deck systems enable efficient reach over the fuselage for tasks concerning the Cargo/Baggage area and Cabin Access, especially around the Main Entry Door (MED).

Access is critical for the Landing Gear (NLG + MLG) and the Middle Fuselage, particularly for Wing Box and Fuel Tank maintenance. For the Wing & Engine Pylon, specialized stands ensure thorough access for inspection and service of the Engine, Fan, Compressor, and Turbine components. Access to the Tail Section for maintenance of the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilisers and the Rudder is also supported by these purpose-built platforms.
