BN2A-21

The BN2A-21 is a variant of the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander, a highly popular utility aircraft and airliner. The Islander is renowned for its short take-off and landing (STOL) capabilities, making it ideal for operating in challenging environments and on shorter runways globally.

The aircraft’s history traces back to designers John Britten and Desmond Norman. Britten-Norman, which has over 60 years of designing and manufacturing experience, first flew the BN-2 Islander prototype in 1965. The company’s production history includes building aircraft in various locations, including Romania, with finishing and certification often taking place in the UK and Belgium after an acquisition by Fairey Aviation. With over 1,200 aircraft built, the Islander remains in active service across more than 100 countries.

A variety of platforms and access solutions are utilized for detailed maintenance and inspection across the aircraft’s sections, including the Nose Section (Radome, Windshield & Cockpit), Landing Gear (NLG and MLG), and the Wing & Engine Pylons. These solutions, such as the Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, and Super Service Stand, ensure personnel can access critical areas like the engines and fuselage for methodical servicing.
