B-52H Stratofortress

The B-52H Stratofortress is the backbone of the United States’ strategic bomber fleet, capable of an unrefueled combat range exceeding 8,800 miles. Aerial refueling allows for a range limited only by aircrew endurance. The aircraft can carry up to 20 air-launched cruise missiles.

The aircraft is manufactured by Boeing, a foundational aerospace company with a history dating to 1916. The original B-52A first flew in 1954, beginning a successful lineage of bombers. A total of 744 B-52s were built. The H model, the last variant produced, was delivered in October 1962.

Due to its size and long service life, maintaining the Stratofortress requires detailed access to numerous sections. Specialized platforms and solutions are critical for servicing the Nose Section (including the cockpit and avionics), Forward Fuselage (for cabin access and environmental controls), and Landing Gear bays.

Platforms designed for aviation maintenance provide technicians with elevated access to the Middle Fuselage, the Wing Box area, and fuel tanks. These access stands are also indispensable for thorough service of the Wing & Engine Pylon, where work is performed on the powerful engines (inlet/exhaust, fan, turbine) and hydraulic systems. Sturdy, customized solutions are leveraged for inspection and repairs on the AFT Fuselage and Tail Section (Empennage), ensuring all components—from the APU generator to the vertical and horizontal stabilizers—remain fully operational.
