B-2

The B-2 is an American two-seat light helicopter, famously known for its simpler design intended for private ownership. Developed by engineer Newby O. Brantly after his initial B-1 design failed, the B-2 first flew on February 21, 1953. It features a single main rotor, an anti-torque tail rotor, and a vertically fitted piston engine located behind the cabin. The later B-2B variant introduced a larger 180 hp fuel-injected engine and an all-metal fuselage. The B-2 series can be equipped with skid, wheel, or float landing gear.

Brantly International’s history began with the founding of the Brantly Helicopter Corporation on December 15, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Production efforts commenced after the company moved to Frederick, Oklahoma, in 1957. Although production has had various restarts under names like Brantly-Hynes, approximately 334 units of the B-2 series have been built, and parts support continues to maintain the existing fleet.

To ensure proper upkeep of the B-2, a variety of working platforms and access solutions are necessary for detailed maintenance. These solutions—including deck platforms, modular stepover platforms, trestle scaffold systems, and maintenance stands—are essential for reaching key aircraft areas. Access is required for the nose section components, the landing gear (NLG and MLG), and the engine located in the fuselage. Specialized stands provide stability for tasks around the middle fuselage and tail section components like the vertical and horizontal stabilizers.
