AUSTER MK III F

The AUSTER MK III F is a variant of the foundational Auster line, developed by Taylorcraft Aeroplanes England. This aircraft was widely adopted by the RAF as an air observation post (AOP) aircraft. It saw active operational service in North Africa, during the Normandy landings on D-Day, and throughout the European theater. The Model E AOP III variant was also the first Auster imported to Australia.

Taylorcraft Aeroplanes Ltd., based in Thurmaston, Leicestershire, England, was a subsidiary of the American Taylorcraft company. The English division developed the Taylorcraft Model ‘D’ and the subsequent Auster Mk. I through Mk. V. These light aircraft became the core of the British AOP and were also used by three Canadian AOP squadrons. The company’s production success during wartime cemented the Auster line as an indispensable aircraft for military observation roles.

For access and maintenance around the AUSTER MK III F, a variety of platforms are relevant for different aircraft sections. For general airframe and cabin access, as well as work on the Nose Section (Windshield & Cockpit) and Forward Fuselage (Cabin Access), platforms like the Reach Deck Platform, Easyraise, and Platform Ladder Warthog provide the necessary height. For the Wing & Engine Pylon section, which requires thorough engine and anti-ice maintenance, platforms such as the Modular Stepover Platforms and Cantilever Platform ensure accessibility over the structure. Landing Gear maintenance can be supported by stands like the Super Service Stand. For the Tail Section (Empennage) and work on the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilisers, taller platforms or scaffolding like the Super Maintenance Platform or Super Trestle Scaffold are employed.
