AT-6G

The AT-6G Texan is an iconic, two-seat trainer aircraft, a post-war reconstruction of earlier AT-6 and T-6 models carried out by North American Aviation between 1949 and 1953. This definitive variant maintained the familiar airframe, powered by the 600 hp Pratt & Whitney R-1340-AN-1 Wasp radial engine, and served extensively as a critical training platform across global air forces.

North American Aviation (NAA) was a foundational American aerospace manufacturer. The company traces its origins back to 1928, though it focused primarily on manufacturing starting in 1934. NAA designed and produced some of the most influential aircraft in history, including the B-25 Mitchell bomber, the P-51 Mustang fighter, and the F-86 Sabre jet. The company’s immense production capacity and successful designs, like the T-6 Texan series—of which over 15,000 were built—made it an indispensable supplier during World War II and the Korean War. NAA’s legacy continued through military and space programs before being absorbed into other major aerospace entities.

Maintenance around this aircraft’s engine, cockpit, and tail sections requires reliable access. Specialized access platforms and stands are used to reach high-value areas like the Engine Inlet/Exhaust, Windshield & Cockpit, and the Vertical Stabiliser for detailed, methodical upkeep.
