The AIR Tractor AT-402B is a specialized agricultural aircraft, introduced as an improved version of the AT-402 with revised wingtips and an increased span from the AT-401B. As of December 2001, 31 units had been built, continuing the legacy of agricultural aircraft developed by its manufacturer.
AIR Tractor, Inc. was founded in 1978 by Leland Snow in Olney, Texas. Snow, an influential figure in agricultural aircraft design, created his first ag plane, the S-1, in 1951. After building over 500 Snow-designed aircraft with his previous company, he dedicated two years to designing the first AIR Tractor model, the AT-300, which first flew in 1973. This aircraft combined his extensive knowledge of aircraft design and agricultural spraying. Today, AIR Tractor is an employee-owned company, established in 2008, producing a wide line of ag aircraft.

These include platforms and stands that support access to the Nose Section (radome, avionics, windshield), the Forward Fuselage (Main Entry Door, cargo, lighting systems, Environmental Control System access), and the Landing Gear (Nose and Main). Further access is required for the Middle Fuselage/Wing Box Area (fuel tanks, oil maintenance), the Wing & Engine Pylon (engine components, hydraulics), the AFT Fuselage (bulkhead, rear avionics), and the Tail Section/Empennage (stabilizers, rudder).
