AS.355F2

The AS.355F2 is part of the AS355 Écureuil 2 (or Twin Squirrel/TwinStar) family, a twin-engine light utility helicopter. Originally developed and manufactured by Aérospatiale in France, the AS355 is a twin-engine derivative of the single-engined AS350 Écureuil. The first flight was in September 1979. Over time, manufacturing continued under Eurocopter, following a merger of Aérospatiale’s helicopter interests. Eurocopter later rebranded as Airbus Helicopters, which continued production until 2016. The AS355F2 variant is noted for its twin Rolls Royce 250-C20F engines.

A range of platforms and access solutions are utilized for maintenance around this aircraft. Modular Stepover Platforms and Bridge Deck platforms are foundational for navigating obstacles and providing safe horizontal access, essential across the Fuselage (Forward, Middle, AFT) and Wing areas. Stands such as the Super Service Stand and Super Maintenance Platform offer access for detailed maintenance on the Nose Section (avionics, windshield), Wing & Engine Pylon (engine components, hydraulics), and Tail Section (stabilizers, rudder). Cantilever Platform and Ultraraise systems allow for flexible height access, reaching elevated areas like the Tail Section (APU, vertical stabilizer) and various points along the Fuselage. Platform ladders like the Warthog provide versatile access for routine checks across General Access areas, cabins, and wheel wells (Landing Gear). Aviation Chock and Cone Trolleys are indispensable for managing equipment during operational readiness and routine checks.
