AS 332 L1

The Airbus Helicopters AS 332 L1 is a stretched civilian version of the Super Puma medium utility helicopter, tracing its manufacturing heritage through Aérospatiale and Eurocopter before the formation of Airbus Helicopters. Development began in the late 1970s, evolving from the Aérospatiale SA 330 Puma with more powerful engines and an enhanced rotor system. The first Super Puma variant flew in 1978, with the lengthened ‘L’ version following in 1980, and the stretched AS 332 L1 civilian version being introduced later. The AS 332 L1 features a long fuselage, an airline-style interior, and is powered by Turbomeca Makila turboshaft engines. It is widely used in various civilian roles, including offshore transport and search and rescue.

Maintaining this aircraft requires specific height access solutions for a range of tasks. Access is necessary for systems located in the Nose Section (radome and avionics) and the Forward Fuselage (cabin access, lighting, and environmental control system). Specialized access equipment supports work on the Landing Gear, the critical components within the Middle Fuselage/Wing Box Area (fuel tanks and structural elements), and the complex systems of the Wing & Engine Pylon (engine components, hydraulics, and fuel systems). Further thorough access is required for the AFT Fuselage and the Tail Section (including the APU and control surfaces like the rudder).
