A340

The Airbus A340 is a long-range, wide-body commercial airliner produced by the multinational European aerospace corporation, Airbus. The program was launched in the 1980s as part of a joint initiative with the A330, sharing a common fuselage and wing design, but the A340 featured four engines for extended over-water flights, a necessity at the time. The first variant, the A340-300, entered service in 1993. Later variants included the longer-range -500 and the ultra-long-haul -600, which was briefly the world’s longest airliner. Production ended in 2011, though the aircraft remains operational with various airlines globally. Airbus itself was formed through the consolidation of major European aerospace companies, growing into a paramount force in civil aviation manufacturing.

A variety of access platforms are utilized for maintaining this aircraft. Reach Deck Platforms, Modular Stepover Platforms, Super Trestle Scaffold, Ultraraise, and Platform Ladder Warthog provide access to numerous critical areas.

Maintenance platforms address access needs across the aircraft structure. This includes the Nose Section (radome, avionics, cockpit), Forward Fuselage (Main Entry Door, cargo, forward wheel well), Landing Gear (NLG and MLG), Middle Fuselage/Wing Box Area (wing box, fuel tanks, cabin interior), Wing & Engine Pylon (engine inlet/exhaust, fan, turbine, hydraulics), AFT Fuselage (APU compartments, rear avionics), and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder). These access stands ensure methodical and safe operations for all checks and repairs.
