A109A

The A109A is the foundational production model of a lightweight, twin-engine helicopter family, recognized for its speed and sleek design. This first Italian-designed twin-engine helicopter made its maiden flight on August 4, 1971. The A109A variant is powered by two Allison Model 250-C20 turboshaft engines.

The manufacturer, Leonardo, traces the A109’s legacy back to Agusta. Count Domenico Agusta authorized the construction of the initial prototypes, leading to this successful helicopter’s development. Through a history of mergers, including AgustaWestland, the A109 family became part of Leonardo S.p.A., a foundational global aerospace and defense company.

Maintaining the A109A requires a variety of specialized access platforms. Solutions like deck platforms, modular stepover platforms, trestle scaffold, and maintenance stands are used to perform thorough work on crucial aircraft sections. These access items are indispensable for detailed maintenance across the nose avionics, landing gear, engine inlets, and the vertical and horizontal stabilisers in the tail section.
