A-37B

The A-37B Dragonfly, or Cessna Model 318E, is a specialized light attack aircraft developed from the T-37 Tweet trainer. Cessna, the manufacturer, is renowned for its widespread influence in general aviation. During the Vietnam War, the U.S. military needed a dedicated counter-insurgency (COIN) aircraft, leading to the development of the A-37.

The A-37B production model was significantly upgraded from the original variant. It featured two General Electric J85-GE-17A engines, a strengthened airframe, increased fuel capacity, and provision for in-flight refueling. This version, which replaced aging types like the A-1 Skyraider, saw 577 units built before production ended in 1977. The A-37B served both as an attack aircraft and later as the OA-37B armed observation aircraft.

A range of work platforms and access solutions are utilized for maintaining this aircraft across its various sections, including the Nose Section (radome, cockpit), Forward Fuselage, Landing Gear, Middle Fuselage, Wing & Engine Pylon, AFT Fuselage, and Tail Section (empennage). Modular stepover platforms and cantilever platforms provide necessary access for detailed maintenance tasks such as inspecting the twin engines and hydraulics, or servicing the landing gear.
