500N

The 500N is a light utility helicopter known for its NOTAR (No Tail Rotor) anti-torque system, a distinctive feature that replaces the conventional tail rotor with ducted air, significantly reducing noise and improving safety. This aircraft is part of the esteemed MD 500 lineage, which originated with the Hughes Helicopters OH-6 Cayuse, first flying in 1963.

Manufacturing of this helicopter series has a history of transitions. The original designer and producer was Hughes Helicopters. McDonnell Douglas acquired Hughes Helicopters in 1984, subsequently manufacturing the helicopters, including the 500N variant, under the name McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems. The lineage of this aircraft continues in service, with production extending under MD Helicopters after the line was spun off in the late 1990s.

A range of platforms and access solutions are available for detailed maintenance around this aircraft. These products support thorough inspection and servicing of critical areas such as the Nose Section (including radome, antenna, and avionics), the Forward Fuselage (for cabin access and main entry door), the Landing Gear, and the Tail Section (including the vertical and horizontal stabilizers). These platforms are indispensable for achieving first-class maintenance across the aircraft.
