500-U

The Aero Commander 500-U is part of the Twin Commander family of aircraft, produced by Aero Commander. The company was founded in 1944 and became known for its high-wing, twin-engine aircraft designs. The Twin Commander series originated with the Aero Commander 520 in the early 1950s.

The 500-U model appeared in 1965, reportedly receiving a utility category rating. It succeeded the 500B model. Production of the Twin Commander series continued and evolved, leading to models like the 500S Shrike in 1968, which remained in production for nearly a decade.

Maintenance access for this aircraft requires specialized solutions. Platforms and stands support detailed inspection and service across multiple sections. Access is often focused on the Nose Section for radome and avionics, the Forward Fuselage for cabin entry and wheel well maintenance, and the Wing & Engine Pylon area for engine servicing, fuel systems, and hydraulics. The Tail Section (Empennage) and AFT Fuselage, including bulkheads and auxiliary systems, also require thorough attention using these access solutions.
