47G2

The 47G2 is a variant of the Bell 47, a foundational American light multirole helicopter. Its manufacture in Japan was handled by Kawasaki Heavy Industries under license, beginning in 1952 and continuing until 1965. The 47G2 model, also known to the Japanese armed forces as the H-13H, was crucial for various operations including passenger and material transport, agricultural work, and reconnaissance.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries established its aircraft production history in 1918. The company built Japan’s first large-size all-metal plane, the Type Dornier heavy bomber, in 1926. After spinning off its aircraft works in 1937, Kawasaki later resumed its aerospace endeavors post-WWII, securing contracts for manufacturing trainer jets, which solidified its position as an indispensable player in Japanese aviation.
