369A

The Hughes 369A is a turbine-powered helicopter recognized for its crashworthy design, primarily known in its military form as the OH-6A Cayuse. The 369A won a significant U.S. Army light observation helicopter contract in 1965, marking a pivotal moment for the design.

Hughes Helicopters was a major American manufacturer of both military and civilian rotary-wing aircraft, beginning as a unit of Hughes Aircraft in 1947. After 1955, it became part of the Hughes Tool Company. The company was reformed as Hughes Helicopters, Inc. in 1981 but was ultimately acquired by McDonnell Douglas in 1984. The legacy of these helicopter designs continues today under MD Helicopters.

A range of platforms and access solutions facilitate maintenance across the aircraft. Access equipment like the Cantilever Platform, Super Maintenance Platform, and Modular Stepover Platforms are crucial for comprehensive service across multiple sections.

For the Nose Section, these platforms enable access to the radome, antenna, and cockpit windshield. The Forward Fuselage benefits from the platforms for cabin and cargo access, and for reaching the Environmental Control System (ECS). The Landing Gear (NLG and MLG) requires steady access provided by these stands for thorough inspection and maintenance.

Maintenance around the Wing & Engine Pylon is simplified using these solutions to service the engine components, including the fan, compressor, and turbine, as well as the hydraulic and fuel systems. Similarly, the Tail Section’s empennage components—the vertical and horizontal stabilizers and rudder—require these sturdy platforms for detailed work.
