The Learjet 31A is a high-speed, twin-engined business jet manufactured by Learjet, a subsidiary of Bombardier Aerospace. Introduced in October 1990, it succeeded the original Learjet 31. This light jet is typically configured for up to eight passengers and is recognized for its cruising speed of 458 kts and a range of approximately 1,290 nm. Production of the 31A continued until October 2003, with 242 units delivered.
Learjet’s history traces back to the pioneering efforts of William Powell Lear Sr., who established the company in the 1960s to produce fast, efficient business jets based on a Swiss fighter design. The company has since been synonymous with light corporate aviation. Learjet introduced the Learjet 31, developed from the Learjet 29, with the 31A variant featuring critical updates such as increased cruising speed, a new digital avionics system (EFIS), and revised instrumentation. Later revisions increased takeoff and landing weights and included an engine upgrade to the Honeywell TFE731-2C.
A variety of access solutions are suitable for maintaining the 31A. The Reach Deck Platform and Modular Stepover Platforms facilitate access to the Wing & Engine Pylon section (Engine Inlet/Exhaust, Anti-Ice, Fan, Compressor, Turbine) and the Middle Fuselage / Wing Box Area (Wing Box, Fuel Tanks). For detailed work on the Nose Section (Radome, Nose Avionics, Windshield & Cockpit) and the Tail Section (Vertical Stabiliser, Horizontal Stabiliser, Rudder), cantilever platforms and Super Maintenance Platforms offer precise positioning. Platform Ladder Warthog and Easyraise are indispensable for routine checks on the Landing Gear, Forward Fuselage components (Lighting Systems, Cargo/Baggage), and General Access points.
