The Great Lakes Sport Trainer, Model 2T-1A-2, is an aerobatic biplane with a lineage tracing back to the original GREAT LAKES Aircraft Company of the late 1920s. While initial production ceased in 1933, the aircraft’s design saw a revival under new ownership, including the Champlin-era Great Lakes Aircraft Company in 1977. The 2T-1A-2 variant is a foundational aerobatic platform, typically powered by a Lycoming AEIO-360 engine.

Maintaining this classic design requires specialized access. Solutions such as the Reach Deck Platform, Modular Stepover Platforms, and Super Trestle Scaffold are invaluable for comprehensive access across the airframe. The Cantilever Platform and Ultraraise provide first-class reach for the Wing & Engine Pylon area, including access to the engine and undercowl for methodical maintenance.

For work on the Tail Section, particularly the Vertical and Horizontal Stabilisers and Rudder, the Super Maintenance Platform and A Frame Aviation Platform offer sturdy access. The nose section and forward fuselage, including the cockpit and landing gear, are efficiently reached using the Easyraise and Platform Ladder Warthog, ensuring detailed maintenance is completed across all sections of this revered aircraft.
