269B

The 269B is a lightweight, three-seater helicopter of standard configuration, known for its use in flight schools, business, private flights, and agricultural applications like crop spraying. It features a three-bladed main rotor and a two-bladed teetering tail rotor. Despite its utilitarian exterior, the 269B is an enduring aircraft, with many still in service today.

Hughes Helicopters, the manufacturer, traces its origins back to the aircraft division of the Hughes Tool Company, founded by Howard Hughes. The company became known for pioneering helicopter designs. The 269 series originated from a 1955 design for a lightweight, inexpensive utility helicopter. The 269B model, a refinement of the original, offered a three-seat configuration. This lineage of helicopters was later manufactured by Schweizer Aircraft after Hughes Helicopters was acquired by McDonnell Douglas in the 1980s.

A variety of platforms and access solutions are utilized for maintaining this aircraft, including the Reach Deck Platform and Modular Stepover Platforms. These solutions aid access to crucial areas like the nose section (for avionics and the windshield), the landing gear (for nose and main landing gear inspections), and the tail section (for the vertical and horizontal stabilizers). Specialized maintenance stands, such as the Super Service Stand and Super Maintenance Platform, offer excellent access for detailed maintenance tasks.
