The Fairchild 24W-41A is part of the highly successful Fairchild 24 series of civil aircraft. Designed in 1931, the Fairchild 24 was known for being an economical and easy-to-fly touring aircraft, produced throughout the 1930s and 1940s. The type was also produced in large numbers for military use, including serving as the Argus for the Royal Air Force. Post-war, these aircraft were widely used by private owners and small air charter operators for short-distance taxi work.

Fairchild Aircraft, the manufacturer, was founded in 1925 by Sherman Fairchild and was an American aircraft and aerospace manufacturing company.
