167

The 167, formally known as the BAC 167 Strikemaster, is a high-performance attack aircraft and jet trainer. It was developed directly from the BAC Jet Provost trainer, making it an armed version for light attack roles. The Strikemaster first flew on 26 October 1967 and was manufactured between 1967 and 1983, with 146 units built for various global air forces.

The British Aircraft Corporation (BAC), the aircraft’s manufacturer, has a foundational history in British aviation. BAC was formed in 1960 as a result of a government-mandated merger involving major companies such as English Electric Aviation Ltd., Vickers-Armstrongs (Aircraft), the Bristol Aeroplane Company, and Hunting Aircraft. This consolidation created a significant force in the UK aerospace industry, responsible for developing and producing numerous civil and military aircraft.

A range of platforms and access solutions are utilized for maintenance and inspection of the 167. These access solutions, including Reach Deck Platforms, Modular Stepover Platforms, and Super Trestle Scaffold, address needs across the aircraft. They facilitate access to critical areas such as the Wing & Engine Pylon for engine checks, the Landing Gear for routine servicing, and general access to the Forward and AFT Fuselage sections. The Cantilever Platform and Bridge Deck offer access to high or difficult-to-reach points, such as the Tail Section for stabilizer maintenance.
