100

The 100 aircraft, often known as the Darter Commander, is a single-engine, light civil aircraft. It originated in the mid-1960s, designed for general aviation use, training, and personal transport. Specifications include a capacity for three passengers and a Lycoming O-320-A engine providing 150 horsepower. This aircraft is characterized by its 35-foot wingspan and durable design.

Manufacturing of the 100 model involved Rockwell International, a major industrial conglomerate with roots tracing back to the early 20th century. Founded by Willard Rockwell, the company grew through mergers and acquisitions, becoming a foundational force in various sectors, including aviation. The Aero Commander aircraft series, under which the 100 was produced, became part of Rockwell’s extensive portfolio, cementing its role in light aircraft production before the company underwent significant restructuring in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
