Swearingen Aviation

Swearingen Aviation, originally founded by Ed Swearingen, was an American manufacturer renowned for developing and modifying propeller and turboprop aircraft, often focusing on high-performance business and regional designs. The company’s legacy products, later manufactured under the name Fairchild Swearingen, include the successful Merlin series of business turboprops (such as the Merlin 3, 300, and models like the SA-226TC) and the Metro series of commuter airliners. While the original manufacturing entity no longer exists in production, its historical aircraft, like the Merlin, remain in service globally, with current activities largely focused on aftermarket support, maintenance, and parts for the existing fleet.
