Swearingen Aircraft

Swearingen Aircraft was an American aircraft manufacturer known for its twin-engine turboprop and jet aircraft designs. Founded by Ed Swearingen, the company’s most well-known product is the Metroliner series (also known as the Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner), a successful line of commuter and executive aircraft. The Metroliner was commercially manufactured by Fairchild after acquiring a majority stake. Swearingen also developed the Merlin series of turboprop business aircraft and the SX300 experimental aircraft. The Metroliner and Merlin series are considered their principal products, with the Metroliner being the most commercially successful and historically significant. Swearingen Aircraft’s legacy is primarily in designing efficient regional airliners and executive transports.
