SNCAN

Société nationale des constructions aéronautiques du Nord (SNCAN) was a French state-owned aerospace and defense company, founded in 1936 through the nationalization and merger of several predecessors. It existed until 1954 when it was merged to form Nord Aviation.

As the company is defunct, it has no well-known current products.

Historical products include the licensed production of the Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun during and after WWII, which SNCAN re-engined and sold as the Nord 1000 Pingouin series. SNCAN is also historically significant for developing the N.2501 Noratlas, a twin-boom military transport aircraft that first flew in 1949 and was widely used by the French Air Force and others.
