Pietenpol

Bernard H. Pietenpol was an American aircraft designer known for creating affordable, simple, and reliable homebuilt aircraft designs in the early 1930s, intended to be built by amateur enthusiasts.

Pietenpol is not a corporation but a legacy brand defined by these plans. Their well-known historical product is the Pietenpol Air Camper, first flown in 1928. This two-seat, open-cockpit monoplane was originally powered by a modified Ford Model A engine.

The Air Camper and its subsequent evolution, the Pietenpol Sky Scout, are still highly recognized in the amateur-built aircraft community today. Current “products” are primarily derived from the continued sale and use of original plans, with countless modern-day builders creating their own versions, often substituting the original Ford engines with modern, light aircraft engines like the Continental A65 or various Volkswagen conversions.
