Hawker Siddeley Aviation

Hawker Siddeley Aviation (HSA) was a major British aerospace manufacturer, formed in 1963 from the merger of several historic companies including Hawker Aircraft, A.V. Roe, and de Havilland. It was nationalized in 1977 as part of British Aerospace (now BAE Systems).

Historical products are its focus, as the company no longer exists independently. Well-known historical products include the Hawker Siddeley Harrier (the world’s first operational V/STOL aircraft, famous as the “Jump Jet”), the Hawker Siddeley Nimrod (maritime patrol aircraft), and commercial airliners like the Hawker Siddeley Trident and HS 748. HSA also developed military trainers such as the Gnat and Hawk, the latter of which remains in use globally.
