Gloster Aircraft Manufacturing

Gloster Aircraft Company was a prominent British aircraft manufacturer, founded in 1917 and defunct by 1963, eventually merging into Hawker Siddeley Aviation. It was renowned for producing a significant lineage of fighter aircraft for the Royal Air Force, including the Grebe, Gladiator, Meteor, and Javelin. Gloster built nearly 2,750 Hawker Hurricanes during World War II. Its most historically notable product is the Gloster Meteor, which was the first British jet fighter and the only Allied jet to see operational service in World War II. The company has no current products, as it ceased operations in the early 1960s.
