Focke - Wulf

Focke-Wulf was a German aircraft manufacturer, famous for producing one of the best fighter planes of World War II, the Focke-Wulf Fw 190. Designed by Kurt Tank, the Fw 190, nicknamed Würger (Shrike), was a versatile and potent aircraft. It was introduced in August 1941 and proved superior to the Spitfire Mk. V at low to medium altitudes. It was utilized as a day fighter, fighter-bomber, and ground-attack aircraft, powered primarily by the BMW 801 radial engine. Over 20,000 were built. The company’s legacy includes this iconic fighter, which was later developed into the Focke-Wulf Ta 152. The Fw 190 was retired from Luftwaffe service in May 1945.
