Cub Crafters

CubCrafters, Inc. is an American aircraft manufacturer founded in Yakima, Washington, in 1980 by Jim Richmond, initially focusing on repairing and restoring Piper Cubs. The company specializes in general aviation, producing high-performance taildragger aircraft, including both certified models and kit aircraft.

Well-known current products include the Carbon Cub series (like the Carbon Cub FX-3), known for being lighter and easier to fly, and the Top Cub, which was the company’s first Type Certified aircraft (introduced around 1999/2000). Historically, the company started with the restoration of Piper Cubs and introduced early “new” aircraft like the Piper/CubCrafters PA18.
