The C-130 Propeller Body Work Platform is methodically engineered to provide safe, adjustable, and efficient access for comprehensive maintenance procedures on the Lockheed Martin C-130 aircraft propeller and engine body interface. Designed as a dedicated solution for aircraft servicing environments, this platform offers maintenance personnel unparalleled access to critical areas, significantly enhancing safety and productivity during foundational tasks, including propeller removal and replacement.
The C-130 Propeller Body Work Platform features a strong and highly adaptable design centered around a foundational height adjustment range, spanning from 1.489mH up to 2.572mH. This extensive vertical adjustability ensures that the working surface is always perfectly aligned with the various heights required for accessing the C-130’s propeller blades and the immediate surrounding engine nacelle.
Height modifications are managed through a reliable manual hand hydraulic pump, strategically positioned at both the top and the bottom of the stand for operational convenience. For high-frequency use, battery-powered variations of the hydraulic system are also available.
Safety and operator comfort are paramount in the platform’s design. It maintains a consistent 45-degree stair access to the adjustable platform, regardless of the height setting. This constant angle provides a secure and natural ascent/descent path, a vital feature when carrying tools or components. Access to the fixed, lower front section of the platform is facilitated by integral vertical access ladders. The deck surfacing itself is a high-performance system: perforated and swaged decking material is overlaid with durable rubber matting. This combination allows any moisture to drain effectively through flush perforations while the rubber provides superior anti-slip grip, indispensable in a maintenance environment where oils or fluids may be present.
A core functionality of this system addresses fluid management, crucial for a C-130 Propeller Body Work Platform. Aggressive perforations on the lower fixed platform are integrated above an oil catch decking system. This system includes retractable oil trays on both sides, ensuring that oil drainage occurring underneath the propeller—particularly when the propeller is disconnected from the engine—is contained and managed properly, minimizing mess and maintaining a clean work environment around the aircraft.
This platform is designed to be fully compatible with other dedicated maintenance tools; it joins seamlessly with the Propeller Stand to create complete engine and propeller access for major overhaul tasks. For engine maintenance, consider our specialized engine body work stand.
Mobility is achieved via large 200mm diameter, heavy-duty casters that feature both swivel and braking capabilities. The casters opposite the tow point are equipped with directional locking functionality, allowing precise positioning. The platform’s tow system is cleverly designed for operational efficiency and storage: when the tow hitch is stowed, it automatically engages a lever brake mechanism with four points that lift and prop the stand slightly off the support surface, ensuring stability during use. Lifting the towbar also automatically engages the stand’s brakes.
Furthermore, this C-130 propeller body work platform is specifically designed for close contact with the C-130 airframe. Foam rubber buffering is installed on all sides of the platform where contact with the aircraft is possible, preventing any damage to the fuselage or nacelle paintwork. Hi-visibility reflective tape encircles the platform circumference, enhancing visibility in low-light conditions.
For logistical flexibility, the entire stand is deployable within a C-130 aircraft, breaking down into three main modules for easy stowage and deployment. All indispensable components, such as pins and securing parts, are retained with lanyards to prevent FOD (Foreign Object Debris) incidents. With a substantial SWL (Safe Working Load) of 1000kg, this platform is built to safely support personnel, tools, and replacement components necessary for demanding C-130 propeller maintenance. Its dimensions are 2.09mL x 3.71mW x 1.489 – 2.572mH, confirming it is suitably sized for the targeted maintenance access.
